The
City of Lake Alfred encourages and supports the Transportation
Planning Organization for the community-led partnership of
organizations, businesses, governments, and individuals that
act collectively to ensure implementation of Polk County's
community vision. As we all know there is a tremendous need
for defined strategies, planning, development, and completion
of vital projects within Polk County to better enhance our
living environment.
The Polk Transportation
Planning Organization (TPO) is the lead transportation
planning agency for Polk County. It develops transportation
plans and programs for Polk County as mandated by federal and
state legislation, which are designed to meet our community’s
short and long term travel needs. Transportation projects,
e.g., road widening projects or bus service expansions, are
planned and programmed (federal and state funding) by the TPO
is cooperation with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT),
transportation operators and local governments. This
City of Lake Alfred is seeking a resident to serve on the
Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). To obtain additional
