No 2026 Municipal Election

On January 5, 2026, the City of Lake Alfred Commission approved and adopted Ordinance 1570-25 after a public hearing and second reading. Passage of this Ordinance amended Sections 4.05(a), 4.05(d), 2.05(c), and 2.07 of the City’s Charter, changing the date and year for the election of City Commissioners to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in odd-numbered years, commencing in November of 2027. Therefore, no election will be held in April 2026.

Upon the ordinance's approval, the terms of the currently seated City Commissioners were adjusted to align with the 2027 November Municipal Election cycle. According to Ordinance 1570-25, "Commissioners occupying office at the time of approval of this provision by the voters of the city shall be entitled to continue in office until seats become vacant in accordance with this section as follows: seats 1, 2 and 5 shall be filled for a four-year term at the 2027 city election and seats 3 and 4 shall be filled for a four-year term at the 2029 city election. One Commissioner would be extended for approximately 18 months, while the remaining seats would be extended for approximately 7 months. The city staff anticipates a special election in April of 2027 to address the City Commission's request for a Charter Referendum to establish voting by seats."

  • Seat 5, currently held by Commissioner Jack Dearmin, has been extended approximately 18 months and is now set to expire in November 2027, instead of in April 2026.
  • Seats 1 and 2, currently held by Commissioners Brent Eden and Ronnie Robinson Jr., respectively, are now extended for approximately 7 months and are set to expire in November 2027, instead of in April 2027.
  • Seats 3 and 4, currently held by Vice-Mayor Nancy Daley and Mayor Mac Fuller, respectively, are now extended for approximately 7 months and are set to expire in November 2029, instead of in April 2029.
