Notice of Non-Discrimination
The City of Lake Alfred complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, and other applicable nondiscrimination laws and regulations.
No person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability, be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity conducted or funded by the City.

Civil Rights Grievance Procedure
The City of Lake Alfred has adopted the following procedure to ensure prompt and fair resolution of complaints alleging discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in any City program, service, or activity receiving federal financial assistance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
1. Filing a Complaint
Complaints must be submitted in writing within 180 days of the alleged discrimination. Each complaint should include the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief description of the alleged discriminatory act. Assistance will be provided upon request to individuals with disabilities or limited English proficiency.

3. Investigation and Resolution
The Civil Rights Coordinator will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within 15 calendar days and conduct a prompt investigation. A written determination of findings and any proposed resolution will be issued within 60 calendar days of receipt, where practicable.
4. Appeal
If the complainant disagrees with the resolution, they may submit an appeal in writing within 30 calendar days of the decision. The appeal will be reviewed by the City Manager, whose determination shall be final.
5. External Filing Option

This procedure does not deny the right of the complainant to file a complaint directly with the EPA or pursue other remedies available under law.
